Book circle on the theme education, migration and segregation
2022-01-28
The research network Studies on education, migration and segregation is inviting to a fiction book circle.
During the spring of 2022 the research network Studies on education, migration and segregation invites to a fiction book circle. We will be reading two novels, Ingenbarnsland by Eija Hetekivi Olsson and Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, which in two different ways touches on the theme of the network.
Last day to apply is 31/1/22 and is done by email to Håkan at hakan.forsberg@edu.uu.se. There's a limit to 15 people for the event.
The meetings will take place in the CIRCUS halls, Gamla observatoriet, Kyrkogårdsgatan 8 A, possibly on Zoom depending on how the Covid-situation is developing during the spring.
The meetings are as follow:
16/2 - Introduction
30/3 - Ingenbarnsland by Eija Hetekivi Olsson
8/6 - Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart
Parallel to the book circle the network will also be collaborating with a photographer, Finn Calander who has a project to depict the city on the theme education, migration and segregation. The idea is that both the book circle and the photo-project will open up to new perspectives within the different research areas and touch on questions relating to education, migration and segregation.
This will be displayed in a vernissage during the fall, more information will follow.
